Appearance/Mannerisms/Etc. Meme
Mar. 22nd, 2007 01:12 amClothing/Appearance: Maladict usually wears his uniform -- red, white and blue, echoes of the Napoleonic army, slightly on the shabby side (it was from army inventory, after all), but, due to the Power of Vampire Style, the shabbiness somehow manages to look chic. However, since he was carrying his gear when he ended up in camp, he also has his normal clothes with him: black silk shirt, black brocade vest, black overcoat, black trousers, black cravat and black boots. Basically, goth evening dress, only lacking the sense of being a poser who wishes he were a vampire because. Well.
Canon tells us that Mal is thin, pale-skinned (noticeably so -- I say not quite albino-level paleness, but close), dark-haired (black, I'm assuming) and short (which I've translated as 5'5"). Non-canonly, his eyes are black, but take on a reddish hue when he begins to go into caffeine withdrawal. His hair is short, but not severely so; he could star in a shampoo commercial. Ears are slightly pointed at the top. Canine teeth are noticeably sharp but not too terribly long. Nails are short but look almost manicured.
Habits/Mannerisms/Body Language: His body language speaks of confidence, ease and self-assurance. He's that guy who looks so cool, you just want to smack him, only that would make you look even more uncool. Generally, he looks like he has everything figured out (and what he figured out was that everything is a-okay for him). He doesn't slouch, but there's no ramrod-straight posture for him, either -- he's a casual leaner. Walls, doorways, trees, countertops -- he is master of the casual lean.
If he's taking you into his confidence (in reality or in play), he'll get into your personal space, but not too badly -- there might be an arm over the shoulders if you're short enough, but it's likely that there's no actual physical contact taking place. Overally, he sense of personal space is pretty normal, nothing to write home about.
He actually isn't too overdramatic in normal circumstances (grand entrances and first impressions and the like are another story). There might be some casual hand gestures in the course of a conversation. He's a cool guy, though, and cool guys don't flail around.
Current Residence: Hospital basement. The basement-y part of the basement, not the part with the quarantine ward. On the opposite side of the room from the rumoured laundry machines, he keeps his stuff, which includes a coffee/cappucino machine. It's very dark down there normally (he keeps the lights off), so you wouldn't see him when first entering the room. He sleeps hanging from the ceiling.
Typical Daily Routine: Extremely variable. During these colder, less sunny months, he keeps more of a normal schedule, getting up around ten in the morning and going to bed around one or two in the morning. He'll catch meals in the mess hall, but otherwise, he basically hangs around and just does whatever. During the summer, though, he tends to go nocturnal -- probably gets up at around dinnertime (in order to get some food from the mess hall) and goes to bed a little after dawn.
Favorite Haunts: Mostly the hospital. He also tends to take his time in the mess hall. An occasional trip to the library wouldn't be out of place.
Making the Bed? N/A!

This is gonna sound real weird, but...
on 2007-10-14 04:11 pm (UTC)Yeah, so canon: Maladict is female. But don't worry, s/he goes through most of the book (Monstrous Regiment) as male, so I think you'll be ok. (None of my friends know/care, so.)
(And if I just gave you a spoiler, feel free to flick me)
(Besides, I don't think there's much difference between the two. Male and female vampires, that is. *ducks flying objects* I mean, they're both cool. Yes. *shifty eyes*)

SPOILER ALERT for this comment and the above
on 2007-10-14 06:52 pm (UTC)Hah, thanks for the note, but yeah, it's something that I'm well aware of. Because the reveal happens so close toward the end of the book, though, I made the decision to refer to Maladict as male OOCly in order to not automatically spoiler anyone in the RP who hadn't read the book.

on 2007-10-20 01:11 am (UTC)*headesk* And this is why you should always looks through someone's journal before attempting to give him/her advice.
Hm, I was thinking along those lines (that you were doing it for no spoilers, or for ease of use) but...hey, for all I knew, you just had forgotten that. XD;;
As for the question about people having read MR: it is a pretty big spoiler if you think about it; I remember them commenting about how it was confirmed the group was all-female except for Mal and the troll (I think her name ended up being Jade? Crap, read it waaay too long ago); also, anything that works about their gender would technically spoil a lot of the book, since isn't that the book's focus?
has abused the semi-colons in the previous sentence(Oh, and this line is love: "Think Hakkai-esque: I'm so friendly and helpful and could strangle you with your own intestines and I'm so glad we can agree on this!" Dunno who Hakkai is, but it made me laugh, because it is what Mal is like, isn't it...)
I haven't had enough time to read through any of CFUD's archives past 2005 (I'm not a big RP-er, but I like to follow big things. I've been with CFUD since about November 2005, but Real Life has taken over and kicked the RP-reading time out of my life. ...which totally explains this long comment, I know) but I think it's real cool you did Mal- he/she/it/vampire was one of the coolest characters in MR. (Of course, that's not saying a lot, since I like pretty much anything Terry Pratchett comes up with, but anyways...)
really has no time to do this and this is what her procrastination looks likeI'll get around to reading your RP'seventuallysoon and maybethe world will explode or I'll be able to control timeeven comment!-Jessie
